The book isn't whats retarded.

If somethign explodes then you have shorted it out, connected the probes together in other words.

It was mentioned a while ago by many people, including me to do a full test of your electrical system.

Firstly.

Multimeter set to 20v.

Start the bike, +ve on battery + and -ve on battery negative.

What voltage do you see at idle and at 5000rpm.

See what that says first and post back

okay. did that. and im getting 11.42v, but it fluctuates, it goes down to 5v and 6v and then jump right back up to 11.42v... and keeps on doing this in a loop...im guessing the stator is damaged from jumping the bike from my dads car..and its having trouble chargin the batery..im also guessing the battery is fucked...i ordered my new battery but i havnt recieved it yet...

Do you actually have any idea how any of these components operate?

Put the battery on trickle charge over night, and then put it in the bike and start it up, as Neo said, take the reading at idle, and then take the reading at 5k.

Jumping the bike from a car isn't necessarily going to damage anything electrical, I've done it plenty of times and nothing was damaged.

Like i said from the last post.

If it's dropping that low it sounds liek you either have a bad connection on the battery or a bad connection on the multimeter.

Anyway.. since you get 11.42 the battery is past dead and the altenator reg/rec isn't working.

Wouldn't surprise me if the reg/rec altenator and battery are knackered.

Does the multimeter work properly / are you conencting it properly?

connect it to a normal battery like you see in the TV controller etc, the voltage should be steady.. if it jumps then the meter is knackered and has broken leads or a bad connection.

if not theres a problem with the bike.

the battery cannot jump between 5 and 11v.. this is a bad connection giving false readings, sort that out first

It's fucked.

Honestly, it's completely knackered.

Tell you what.

Tell you WHAT.

Mate.

Give you a tenner for it.

:D. ive checked all the battery connectors and they all securely fitted in...the multimeter works fine as ive tested it on a normal battery...and the voltage is steady. im thinking it is the battery, stator and the reg...still havent had time to check what the state those are in though as ive been busy with damn uni. got day off tomorrow so i will check them tomorow.

Offer still stands.

In fact, I've got a bit of spare cash, who's selling a project NC30?
