Ha, I haven't been on 400Greybike in what seems like a year, and I guess Mike Norman has been MIA for months too. We've been busy...

FYI, all the Cosworth pistons are spoken for now.

Re: Cryo, we have cryo'ed some parts - gears, etc. Mike Norman and Mark Elrod are building Mark's 450cc motor for the 2010 race season, and he's sending out practically the entire engine for cryo treatment this week. So, Mike is still around, but we've all just been busy testing on the dyno. That, and playing with milling machines, since I bought a CNC mill a couple months ago.

Ya, instead of building up a new 450 this year, I'm buying machining equipment. I decided I wanted to start making some of this stuff instead of paying others all the time. No, I don't mean pistons and rods. We are still leaving those critical items to the people that know what they are doing - Carillo and Cosworth. But, I bought a 4th/5th axis rotary table so we can do CNC head porting on the milling machine.

Most our development has been on the heads lately, including finally seeing the across the board 2 HP gain we expected from the big valve heads. These are the heads we made, what, 4 years ago, and they didn't work right. Turns out, the valve profile was completely wrong. Doh!

I didn't race last year. Might race a few this year. Most my involvement in racing this year will be as a board member for the AFM. The AFM is a non-profit race club, run by the racers for the racers. So we elect the members of the board, and the board runs the club.

I won't race my VFR again until we get the custom radiators completed. I don't have any good radiators anymore, so rather than buying new ones, I'm holding out for the custom ones. That's fine because it means I can focus on testing in the shop which is more interesting to me right now. I haven't built a 450 using the new Cosworth pistons yet, but my billet crank is in the test Mule engine, which uses the original REC pistons we started with.

Try the rads from Gerd Böckers in Germany. He made the rads for the r6 of the world champion Crutchlow. I never saw better rads. But it is not easy to get a set from Gerd.

I hope i can get a g-force engine in the future. When the fuelinjection and the motec run

Hi Mike,did you get my PM? Thinking about the Omega pistons we were going to buy,did you get the Cosworth pistons from the UK? They are near me,and I was wondering if it was worth a visit to see if there was any chance of doing another batch.They are on my way to another supplier,wouldnt be a problem to call in.
