Can you not send them back stating you aren't happy and the reason why?
I got a front wheel powdercoated and had to take it back as I wasn't impressed with it so they sprayed it with 2pack, it's ok but when I get the back one done it will be going to a powdercoaters who specialise in motorbikes

Yeah the main issue where I live is no one really specializes in motorcycle parts.....

I hate complaining....it's not in my genetic make-up to complain. I'll slap it together and see how easily noticed it is with the brake discs on and so forth. Might be ok?Icemaestro wrote:Motorcycle or not you've paid for the whole wheel to be coated, not all but a bit!:-p

Re: Smurf Blue NC29 in NZ
This is seriously the slowest project I have EVER had!! Seems to be taking me forever to get anything done at all. I'm thinking the 2yr old addition to the family has something to do with that??
Anywho....I actually did something today. It was a wicked Springs day in New Zealand with no wind so I seized the moment....
I put a brand new set of wheel bearings in the newly painted rims....left the bloody spacer out the 1st time didn't I!!! Haha. Muppet.
Masked up the disks ready for some copper paint in the centers. They're in good condition and are black at the moment but I mocked the wheels up and I just don't like the black against the black fork legs.
I pulled the forks apart. I thought that would be dead easy, so I didn't bother looking at a manual of any sort.....was actually a bit harder than I expected but they are both in a million pieces now and I sanded and painted the lower fork legs gloss black. I was going to get them powder coated but remembered last time that the powder coaters had to paint them 3 times and gave up because the alloy wasn't very receptive of the paint.
New fork seals and dust covers on order. Rims will go to the bike shop tomorrow for some new tires. I simply can not wait to get this bad boy into a roller!!!!!
A fireplace is as good as a painters oven right??

Re: Smurf Blue NC29 in NZ
Keep changing my mind heaps on what the final look of the bike will be...damn it.
Sprayed the rear brake disc copper and then took another look at the front discs and decided to keep them black.
Got a bit too keen to get things moving and botched up a bearing on the front wheel! Totally gutted. I guess that's what I get for being in a rush and trying to do most of the work myself instead of using my local mechanic.

No you have to do it yourself, that's how you learn. Plenty of local mechanics near me but let me think how many i trust to do work that's up to my type of standard or a standard that i think is good. 1 person and he's busy as hell because he's very good at his job so I do 99% of the work myself.

Yeah I think you're right mate....I actually TRUST the work I do on my own bike, so I guess making a few mistakes here and there will just build character....and cost me a bit more.

Re: Smurf Blue NC29 in NZ
Mudguard mounts, rear wheel bearings and dust seals arrived the other day....now I just need to muster the energy to put the front forks back together and the wheels on......
These mudguard mounts are made of cheese and can't handle much torquing at all.
Has anyone had any mudguard mounts CNC'd out of aluminum??? I'm thinking of getting some made up.
