if you want to do a simple test to see if the alternator is goosed or not,for future reference

get the block connector by your right knee and test the three pins coming from the alternator but instead of the test you done this time test it to see how much voltage the alternator is putting out

for this you need to set the multimeter to ac volts..........because the readings of the alternator should be 50volts+ make sure the multimeter is set to a range high enough if it gives you the option.

with the bike @5000rpm take three seperate readings(3 pins)and they should all be 50volts or above,if any are below or different from the others then the alternator is goosed and i guarantee it will look like the stator windings in the pic cmsmj1 posted

yes it has to be done with the bike running as this is when the alternator is producing the ac voltage...........
