it'll perk it up a bit, crisper throttle response, minimised flatspotsRVF007 wrote:Rick/anyone - so with the NC35 box...what will the major differences be between using the standard CDI box and the one with the HRC mapping (on a every day road use bike)
yes.RVF007 wrote:Will this work well with having the bike jetted & dyno tuned?

Re: NC30 HRC-spec Ignition Boxes
they do the same job mate .. they're cheap because they are made in the czech republic, and you only get 10 breakpoints to play with in setting the curve (which is plenty for a 20 year old 400) The tcip4 units (these) are their bottom of the range programmable box, the "all singing all dancing, does your injection mapping and walks the dog" boxes they do are north of £500

Rick
Probably an obvious question but I will ask anyways. Can I assume that with this box I would get rid of both the stock cpu AND the Derestrictor.

Re: NC30 HRC-spec Ignition Boxes
Yes that`s right - there are no restriction circuits in the box so it just picks up the power, earth, trigger (x2), ignition coil (x2) and revcounter leads from the standard wiring loom.
The NC35 version has wiring in place for the side stand cutout but that feature is switchable in the software.
BTW - I`ve loaded a box up with my interim `pretty close to HRC` NC35 map and Rhory`s going to give it a back to back road test with the real thing to see if it`s close enough to unleash on the public...

Re: NC30 HRC-spec Ignition Boxes
Is there much difference beteen the NC30 and NC35 HRC maps?
There was someone on the forum who reconed they could run a CDI and plot the advance curve, if we don't have this info and Rorhy is willing to lend his HRC to a good cause I am willing to pay some towards getting the map if others are willing to pitch in too.
regards

Re: NC30 HRC-spec Ignition Boxes
Thanks for that, Jon -
It was Troy at TRS Engineering over there in NSW who offered, and I`m currently gathering the bits together that he`ll need to do the job. I`m hoping that as he`s a member here his bill won`t require a whip round...!

Re: NC30 HRC-spec Ignition Boxes
Quick update on this topic...
NC30 kits are in stock and ready to go - price is £130 and what you get for that is the box, serial (RS232) programing lead and a disk containing programming software, alternative maps, users manual and my own plain english `idiots guide` to programming.
If required I can supply the kit with a USB programming lead instead for an extra £15.
I can provide a `track` version with the harness ready wired for a shiftlight &/or quickshifter if you want and I`ve also made up a few connector lead sets with which you can power the box up from a 12V bike battery and reprogram it `on the bench`.
There are still a few programming issues to sort out with the NC35 version, so although I do have the boxes in stock if anyone wants to DIY it, I`m holding off `til I can sell them as a finished product that I`m happy with....
