I saw this post title several times but never thought it was about our bike. Thank you guys for all the compliments, and even the honest guys who didn't like it. It's definitely a prefered taste. I shared my dream of RC211V body with Tyga back in 2002 when I first ordered the bikes. I have no idea how they actually pulled it off, but for our project, it fits the bill perfectly. I do have to agree with Kenny (Venom51), the wheels need to be another color, white or anything but black.

I am sorry I have been missing in action from posting lately, but we have been busy at work on the 450s (yes VFRMan, that is the 450 you rode). In the time away, we have been able to:
*Get the FCR carbs nearly dialed in
*Design bigger/better radiators
*Design nice triple clamps (shown in another post)
*Design cam sprocket adaptors (coming soon to a posting on 400GreyBIke)
*Have the Beryllium seats and bronze guides installed for the Ti +1mm intake valves
*Get Aluminum valve spring retainers made
*Melt the latest pistons on two engines (very bad)
*Get exhaust cams ready to test
*Get the next custom exhaust ready to test
(on a side note: The pipes in the pics you guys were talking about are RLR twin pipes. The Tyga system that we tested worked exactly as good. They have their own twin system that we have not tested yet, but if it works as good or better than the RLR, I would recommend it without batting an eye).

We have been making slow progress on the EFI bike. The wiring harness is almost done and we have a target date to dyno with a stock engine by Thanksgiving (that's in about a month for you non-US holiday people). The 450 sits on the shelf waiting to get the cool new heads (mentioned above). But, before we do that we have to find out why we melted our pistons

In addition to the humongoid (that's really really F'ing big) radiators we're getting, we are also developing an oil jet cooling system for the pistons (like I said, we melted the last 2 sets). This will be interesting.

You and I need to chat before you guys get ready to make a batch of pistons. I am not planning any motor work over the winter bar your mentioned "Cam Sprocket Adapters" but I will want to do some stuff after the end of next season. Not happy with my current JE's. Don't need a larger bore but would like to squeeze the mix a little more.

Just to put things in perspective, that's the new bodywork put on my race bike (not Mike Norman's) which I've been racing for several years. Hence the cosmetic blemishes like the clutch cover, the exhaust canisters looking like crap, and if you look closely, you'll see other things like scratches on the frame, etc. What can I say - it's a functional bike, not a pretty bike.

I personally love the original NC30 bodywork but it's nice having a bike that also looks more modern, and Tyga did a great job with the RC211V bodywork in my opinion. BTW, to mount the dial side exhaust, I had a tab welded to the right side of the Tyga rear sub-frame that matches the left side. Tyga's sub-frames only have one exhaust mount point. As Mike N. said, we are still working on our own exhaust system which we hope to put through the tail - no funny looking dual canisters hanging down like you see now.

Yes, vfrman, that's the bike you rode at Miller Motorsports Park. But, now it has the CBR600RR forks, wheel, and brakes, using the triple clamps Mike Norman designed. Also, the side panels on the Tyga body work are modified (pushed inward at the air vents) to get more air flow through the radiators. As MIke said above, heat has been an issue with the 450's lately. The stock bodywork handled it OK (not great, but OK), but a combination of old radiators, and the Tyga bodywork directing air differently has caused us some issues. Good radiators and a shroud over the radiators to direct all the air flow through the radiators is probably good enough, but because we've been so unhappy with radiators on these bikes, we are starting from scratch and designing new radiators. Also, we realized that the oil jets coming off the rods (spraying oil on the pistons) weren't as good as we thought, so we are making new oil jets to spray oil on the pistons more like a modern bike. New bikes often have dedicated oil jets that spray a constant stream of oil on the underside of the pistons instead of just spraying oil off the rod like on an NC30/35.

Unfortunately, due to a possibly cracked head which blew water out the radiator, I got water on my rear tire 3 months back and high sided myself, hurting my back a little, and totally messing up the bodywork seen in the photos. Ugh!! It's the first time I have had a high side on a 400. It was in a slow corner, but I had some pretty good hang time - felt like Superman flying for a moment, then bam. Pretty disappointing to finally get the new bodywork and paint only to destroy it. But, that's racing I guess.

can i just say (pukker up ),the work you guys do is just amazing,the level you are taking 400's to is simply jaw dropping and i wish you guys all the best for the future plans and a speedy recovery for that back.
i drop in on the sites alot to see whats new,to see how far the FI bike is along and most of all to see if i can afford anything ( nothing yet which is my only gripe ) and every time i do i just can't believe all that you are doing and how well the bikes look. which is why when i saw this picture on tyga i had to put it up here.
i look forward to seeing whats happening next and a special thanks to mike norman for your akhara site,it helped my out big style when i was doing the cbr600/900 oil cooler and F3 open carbs to my track bike,i hope you guys stick around the site and update on here more often with more pictures of what your doing.

1st saw this on the website 10 months back or so, i think.
Been keeping the urges to upgrade my exhaust "now" since then.
Not got much nails left, and twiddled my thumbs into knots, but being patient...just about.
Holding out is much the result of help from the other half.
Can we have an estimated date? Or at least an update on progress?
