Doesn't that mean you now have a different key for the tank? If it was me I'd be investigating the old cap to see if there was anything obviously wrong with it with a view to putting it back on the bike. You never know, there's an outside chance that simply taking the thing off could have shifted whatever was causing the air lock.

Maybe, maybe not. Trouble is i dont care.
Ive taken the thing on and off a few times with no change. Its been soaked in petrol, rubbed down with rags soaked in brake cleaner, its blocked.
£30 to fix and an extra key on the key ring is a fairly small price to pay i reckon.
Ive got better things to do than worry any more about this. Its time for the misses to enjoy actually riding her bike. We bought this for her after she passed her test and shes only ridden it twice. Now its good to go.
Mission acomplished. I can go back to restoring my Mk1 Escort and building my camper van!
