This does risk knackering the bearings though, a proper drift will apply even pressure all the way around. If you hit the wrong part of the cage too you will also destroy it.

You can do them at home, i've done them before but my pointing out was they are easier to cock up, can be finneky to get sitting right and ajust and for all general purposes the standard ball cage I find to be just as good.
