Lol we will get this sorted. Im leaving work in half hour for a long ride up a very windy motorway so will catch up on this tonight. I admit maybe i am getting hung up on the speedo thing, i alwaus assumed it was an upgrade on the 29 but it seems very odd on the 35 to me.
See ya and goodnight (morning).

I think were in different time-zones anyway so good whatever it is to you :D
In the type code I mentioned the different speedo's are 'J and 2J'
They refer to area's. I'll have to clarify what exactly the difference between J and 2J is.
Might even be something daft like a UV coating for the sunnier parts of the south. Either way will be able to find out hopefully. See below for some Type codes.

Speedos wise - there is a difference on some of the locations of the idiot lights
They are not all in the same place. No idea why...

Yep I have a couple of NC's with the warning lights in different positions.

Why do you say the NC29 was priced differently / where did you hear that? (
http://www.honda.co.jp/news/1993/2931119.html)
Honda say it had a flat-rate cost suggest retail of 739,000円 nationwide, if different shops sold it differently it would be down to them but nothing specifically to do with the location in Japan.
I'm pretty sure it's just a revision thing.
As it happens on that page, although the price is shown as 739.000 yen, it does actually show that local areas had differing prices I think (maybe shipping to the islands?), whether its a tax or not I don't know. It evens mentions Okinawa.. lol..
Roughly translated so make your own mind up.
● Number of sales planning (domestic and year) 2,500
● manufacturer suggested retail price 739,000 yen
(For example, suggested retail price of a region: 17,000 yen Hokkaido, Okinawa is 9,000 yen except for some areas, other.)
(. Do not include consumption tax. Price)
Honestly though, I dont know why they had versions 1 and 2, its probably a piece of bent plate, screw, washer or differing bulb as its obviously internal to the speedo as although the 35 has two speedos and a 2 wires that changed, the 29 just had the 2 speedos.. maybe it was something to do with the changing 53bhp laws around that time? many possibilities.
That was a big area list by the way.. wasn't gonna quote it!

The reason to have a code II is most likely to be a "minor revision" to account for supply chain issues and configuration management. Combined with the the VIN (chassis number) and engine number, this number allows the dealership to easily identify the configuration of your bike when ordering spare parts.
It might be as simple as a parts-supplier for 12mm washers is no longer able to provide 1.0mm thick washers, but instead supplies 0.9mm thick washers. Works fine, but captured in the configuration (parts list) as a change.
Normally you would bundle all such changes into a minor product revision.
I would suggest that this is the reason for Type II.
My 20c worth,
Ben.

I agree with these thoughts.
When an alternative parts supplier is used a new part number may have been issued.

Yep, the Hokkaido part and Okinawa (they are the two islands at each end of the country) the bikes are 20,000 and 9,000 more expensive.
about 80gbp and 160gbp... not a great deal.. nothing some dealers wont' knock off anyway! :)
