If you want one like that I could have one made easily, thats the carb tray I have in my shed so could make a copy up for not much money or would people rather wait until the larger air tray gets here from Japan?

Over the years, my 23 has been heavily modded. Ray Stringer breathed on it 1st and removed the air filter. Ran great for one TD then like a bag of poo. Have tried various filters, zorsts, cans, Mapping system (yes really), ported, kent cams, hours and hours of dyno time and set up. Can get decent bhp but it runs crap. Its presently on 61bhp but is still very quick. Don't ask the hows and whys, I don't know but its now running as good as possibble retaining reliability. Mid range is huge compared to stock so I can hit bends in the wrong gear.

Back to the filter removal. If you want to clean and set up the carbs every time, then go for it.
For track, I'd suggest sorting the suspension 1st, the the engine. You'll go faster if you can carry more corner speed and turn faster than just blasting in a straight line.
