Get cdi done by bendy, you can get them done at a racing shop for about £200, bendy is a lot cheaper!!

it's the pick up from the coil under the left hand casing i believe. take the left hand cover (as you sit on bike) and you should see where it fits, the coil should be there and the black box fit next to it. it should have a copper wire that attaches into the coil if i remember right. Mine has the coil replaced by a bdk ignition. you might get lucky and find one under the cover! but i think it should be connected!

Sorry just this minute Pm'd you... Forgot to note that the picture shown in the thread is off google to show what wire i mean, it is all connected fine just the female and male connector had unpluged from one another where they meet under the tank.... Dunno if that makes sense??

It's the generator pickup / sensor. It plugs into the loom just by the main generator wires (they should be in the same piece of shrinkwrap insulator ... I reckon it's probably important

There's a wiring diagram in the sticky manuals thread - it's colour too.

The picture is of the igintion pick up. If this is unpluggged the bike will not run at all.
From the sound of the problems you have i would,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,re-fit airbox, if the engine is tuned leave the filter out and grease it inside.
Take the bike to a dyno!!!!! If the jetting is out you could well be running it lean and cause some expensive damage.
From my experience i cant think of any thing that will cause the problem you have other than poor mixture or perished carb inlet rubbers.
Dont get worried about the exup valve as long as it is removed or wired open.
Ensure the safety circuit is earthed out if the sidestand or clutch switch wiring is removed and even with a restricted cdi and no speedo drive attached the bike will still rev to 12500 ish.
Any Qs Pm or post up and i will try my best to help

Thanks for reply, right i have assembled the air box as it was missing all the screws so it is ready to go on, however it has had a hole cut out of the bottom about 2" in diameter, whats the best way to seal it up without it getting sucked in or should i leave it open? The hole is located exactly where the bottom of the filter would sit, im guessing it was put there so it could suck air from both ends of the filter! Also there is like a breather or vacum pipe that has been blanked of with a screw at the bottom/back side of the filter box, where would this go to or shall i leave it blanked shut?
Where is the nearist dyno to me as i am near Wrexham, North Wales?
I will take the carbs of and strip and check them threw and check the inlet rubbers while they are off...
Slowly getting there with it rebuilt the front brakes and polished the brake pistons yesturday, i am enjoying learning all about the bike and it's a joy to work on, far far easier and less stressful than buggering about with cars!!
Many thanks

Don't know about the extra hole, maybe just get another one off the bay, if it's left open it will only suck in hot air off the engine.
The hole at the back was for the crankcase breather
