Think i can make them if the cloth is available as arnt they a strange greenish carbon/kevlar, it will be easier than the panels im working on at the moment.
I think the best thing to form around would a solid bar of engineering grade plastic (nylon), will be able to get a 4" piece and then turn it to the correct dia. Can you supply some good pictures showing the finish and colour of the original tube?.

OK, So what is the exact internal diameter of the end caps. I have the vacuum bag system fully set up now so can give it a go.

micpec, cheers for the offer of help.
Ive spoken to the guys in the know and it seems they are pre-peg that is wrapped round a mandrel and then shrink wrapped and cooked in the oven, seems very workable so im looking into the mandrel and cleaning the oven out.

Chris, i'll reply to your PM here as jason (mipec) is the man to ask for specifics of the cans.

So jason we need pics of any kevlar cans you have from the jap era. Also as you have one of your cans apart we need some exact measurements for chris to source a mandrel.

Tony, this is the reason i posted here as you never know who may have a little input, we really need a damaged sleeve as then i have somthing to work with. The pre-peg cures at about 90c so easy and the finish depends on the type of heat shrink- take a look at fishing rods as they are made this way.
