I use a small guage stainless mesh with the open carb setup, but what I wondered was whether anyone used a paper filter with the ramair setup?tanuki wrote:I only use a fine mesh..Stickshift wrote:Does anyone with ramair use a filter?royster81 wrote:to anyone with the ramair ,how does the bike ride down low,i mean, could you in theory fit this to a road bike with little to no side affects ?
Lots of factory bikes can still build up pressure over atmospheric (i.e. greater than 0 psi) even using a paper filter element.

Re: power for pound......one for the nc30/35 racers
i was told today it's best to either run no filter or a very fine gauze filter as anything thicker takes away to much from what the ramair system does and it then becomes pointless to do it....
....then again cameron, anything(even a layer of toilet roll) would be a better filter than what i have at the minute lol
i was asking a few questions about different things today but forgot this, can anyone remember if the cdi's chris does can be used to any benefit on a road bike with nothing more than an FI jet kit and twin cans...

The more you modify it the less user friendly it will be on the road generally.royster81 wrote:can anyone remember if the cdi's chris does can be used to any benefit on a road bike with nothing more than an FI jet kit and twin cans...
If roadbike usability is what you want then it might be an idea to fit rvf carbs with other suitable mods. For track go all out!

Re: power for pound......one for the nc30/35 racers
i have done a ram air on a road bike and the owner was made up with the improvements the terms "differnt bike" was used for his we fitted a small gauze to keep the undesirables out but it will surley reduce engine life . The only coment i could say with regards to performance is once a good setup has been acheived the bike may not be the best at idle it will be prefering air moving through the system although it isnt that bad we have done some race bikes with all out motors and other things and they have idled, slow speed run, cruise speed and wide open throttle has been better than many stock bikes i have seen.
the ram air for the road cannot be a letter box style we just cut it off at 45 degrees in front of the radiator on the road bike.
the perticular road bike i did this (only ram aired one NC bike) on went from a poorly setup 58bhp to a healthy 67bhp it already had on it a twin stack and we used a ignition.
nearly all road bikes now adays use the ram air system in some form its a means of raising atmospheric presure which will always help the ultimate goal in charging a cylinder... But for road bikes i dont know if the extra intake noise and the potential to be reducing upper cylinder life of your engine down worth it.
Personaly i wouldnt i prefer road bikes stockish......why ruin what was ment to be there are no trophys or lap records to be had on the road..... i would like nice reliable road bike i could drive flat out with out a worry of it bursting!

sure a ignition will only make gains everywhere and with it being programable you make it as safe or as fierce as you wish.

(i mean ,why work on your bike when your mates call round to do it and you keep your hands clean )
he had a good look over the system and rated the cans well, they are identical the the cans he had made for the moriwaki system, the flow on the pipe work is seamless (there aren't any seams,it's just one pipe with very very nice bends lol)
and for the eagle eyed amougst us you'll have spoted something else that arrived in the same box....go on have another look at the pictures above .....
thats right ramair ....

looks fantastic (if not slightly like a letter box, especially being red) have you jetted it to suit now, i thought you were the guy with a hrc set up? or have you got both on different bikes?
