So - this old chestnut again.

For information I have an NC35 and live in the North of England, where it is cold and often damp. Today was hot. It read 19C in my car.

I currently use BT090s on my NC35 - they grip like snot to a blanket but don't last long (2000Km on my latest rear tyre - all "progressive" road riding - no track). Also it seems that they are now more expensive than more modern tyres.

I'm happy to keep buying the BT090 but if other tyres would work it might be cheaper - especially if they last longer!

I am using Pirelli Diablo Rosso III on my MV Agusta and I like how they feel and grip - but would they work on the NC35? Would they get warm enough - they are all Z rated and a higher weight rating as well. They do Diablo Rosso II in the right weight and speed rating - but I still hear that people struggle to get these to temperature....

Do we keep having the same discussion and still stick with the BT090s.... still...thoughts on the Pirellis anyone?

I used Rosso II's on my NC35 for a few years, which was mostly ridden on the track.
To be honest, I wasn't really a fan of them because they were so difficult to get up to temperature, however they continued to offer plenty of grip, so it was hard to justify getting rid of them. I have heard similar stories from other riders too.

I have since gone to Dunlop Alpha13's, which are fantastic. They have also now gone to the Alpha14 which is meant to be superior.
If you can get Alpha13/14's I would highly recommend them.

Alpha 13s 14s are great (you can get them in the 400 class speed rating too so unlike Z rated tyres they actually get upto temp and work well) but they don't last very long.

they are more track focussed tyres, do you really need that much on public roads?

have you tried some bt92s?

The A13/14 tyres aren’t available in the UK.
Bridgestone recomend the S20 evo tyres. Anyone familiar with them?

Dunlop d212 gp racers come in 160/60/17, they are road legal but track focused.

I picked a set up yesterday as scrubs from a minitwin racer.

The 160 only comes in the endurance compound and the wear on them for what was apparently a full race weekend was unbelievable, the tread depth is like new.

I'll report back once I've had a spin on them on the nc30. After running a13's for a year, which are fantastic, these are supposed to be even better

I have the S20 evo's but haven't really had the chance to put many miles on them, let alone work them a bit. Now there's an excuse for a ride!

I had an S20 on the front of my old NC30 (replaced a BT090 that was slipping due to wear on the right hand side, bloody New Zealand roundabouts...), I didn't do a heck of a lot of KMs on it before selling the bike, but it did feel very nice and stable. No complaints.

Hi everyone, i’ve not been on here for a while but i’ve recently bought back my old NC30 race bike and currently doing a minor resto to get it back on track.

Since I last owned it, looks like BT-90’s are no more? I’m being advised to run a Continental road attack 3 RC in 150/70/18 as a good sticky track tyre. Not sure if it will catch the chain though. Then either the same upfront in a 120/70/17 (if it clears the mudguard etc) or mix with a Bridgestone up front in a 60 profile (can’t remember which one). The contis are expensive so please enlighten me on options for a NC30 with an 18” rear in 2025!

Any help much appreciated.

I am running Pirelli Diablo Rosso III
They are great tyres. Turn in a lot faster than the BT.
I liked the BTs but the Pirellis are a good alternative
