Re: vfr 400 very stiff rear master cylnder?
It might not be broken, especially if the brake works.xivlia wrote:ahhh okay. il try and adjust the threading part. thanks guys. il also get the lever fixed though because it really feels like its not even going down...
Mine hardly moves at all.

Re: i am literally about to cry.!!!!
Yeah it's shit to get to. If the headers are off, you can always resort to removing the rear head while the engine is in the bike. Then drill out the stuff and put another one in.
If you snapped two, you must be over tightening or putting lateral forces or something on the studs, I had no problem with mine, they aren't torqued very much, so should be no problem undoing them..

Swap the heads..easy to do
Saying that, you did use some form of copaslip/lubrication on the new screws?
It must have left a stub? Mole grips mate...or get a pair of bolts on it.

Ok, been there, know the pain.
Don't touch the f****** thing tonight, and calm down. Any mechanicking will just screw more things up.
Then think through options. Best one might be to remove head.
Tomorrow it will be different, and you might have a better solution.
Look on the bright side, least you aren't missing any sunny summer days riding!!

Re: i am literally about to cry.!!!!
hmm it got a lot of threat sticking out, ive used mole grips but its not turning :\. how can i remove the heads? i thought you needed to drop the engine to remove the heads? actually what i mean by heads is the rear exhaust headers...and they are joined onto the valves? i cannot remove that without taking out the whole thing can i? and for the mole grips thing...should i heat up the headers and the screw before trying to remove it?

I'm not teaching you to suck eggs here, but spray it liberally with WD40 and leave it overnight..... then try giving it a turn.
However failing that, I'm sure machine mart do a stud extractor for around £15.....
Hope this helps

Re: i am literally about to cry.!!!!
Come on Ersan..
Describe again what you have done - I think we;re mixing some stuff up.
You have been changing your exhaust studs yes?
You have new studs? Are these for the exhaust that is attached to the little stubby exhaust, or for the little stubby exhaust that attaches to the engine?
If you have only just fitted new studs - then you *must* have lubricated and cleaned where they are going to fit? You did didn;t you?
Exhaust headers - they are not joined to the valves at all.
take the exhaust off again (as far as I can rmember this is what you were doing - fitting a new exhaust?)
Then take out the new stud with mole grips or 2 bolts locked to each other - like you get on the headstock?
If you fitted new studs without lubricating them, then you;ve learned another hard lesson in your mechanical learning. I doubt you;ll ever fit another bolt, screw, stud or whatever, without lubricating it first.
Good luck man!

Re: i am literally about to cry.!!!!
okok let me clear things up...no i dont have new studs..ive used the old rusty ones that have been there for probably 18 years....which was a stupid idea... they where allready out...and i snapped one while tightening it back on and i did not use grease or any form of lubricant. which was a nother stupid idea....
i was attaching the little stubby exhaust (manifold) to the engine...and the stud sapped in the engine...
tomorrow i shall try and heat it up and use mole grips to take them out. hopefully it works...otherwise its gonna be welding time.

Re: i am literally about to cry.!!!!
Considering that the studs are cheap to buy new and that you already had some issues..man, that was daft!
copaslip or related lubrication is what you need. get some and use it.
You'll only make these cock-ups the once!
