Thanks for the tip Druid, Ihad thought of doing this over the weekend but other things got in the way. I can sort out something fairly easily without the need for the airfilter housing so that's something else to go on the list of things to do .

Just a little update. Pics to follow, forgot the memory card with them on so I'll sort that out tomorrow but here's a brief rundown of the latest things that have been done.

I got a standard NC mudguard from a friend and got busy with a saw and a rattle can to change it to HRC specs. The next thing on the list was to relocate the overflow bottles from the engine mounts to the meter stay. I just thought they looked untidy where they were so I made up two little brackets to mount them on and it's turned out well. The other development was an oil breather tank. I managed to get a cute little alloy g-craft one for a monkeybike and it's perfect so gone is the skanky blue bit of pipe and in it's place is an alloy tank mounted on the front pillion seat support. I'm pleased with my skills as Mark would say

Have you done the 'HRC' modified fuel tap?

I'd suggest not doing it unless you actually run into problems, from my experience they don't always seal 100% on 'just' the tap and I've ruined an engine through a leaky tap filling the crankcases with petrol. It's possible to do that just by leaving the petrol on while in a van or worse on a trailer.

Druid, you'll need it for an open carb setup as without an airbox/filter there's not enough vacuum present at all times to open the fuel tap diaphram. This is why it needs to be done with the nc30 hrc setup.

I agree that it's risky to rely on it, but if you install a dry break coupling you won't have any worries.

yep i used a dry break on mine and my tank level hasn't changed,i didn't before and like you say it filled the casings,highly unrecommended .....

I have done it.....4 years ago and never had a problem. I've never even have an smidgen of petrol coming out of the tap with the tank off but just incase I have a dry break coupling to install anyway.

That's looking really tidy Martin. I also did the HRC tap mod for the ram-air set-up I ran, also with a dry break and thankfully never had an issue, although my bikes always seem to run well no matter what I throw at them LOL

I am not too jealous..been disracted of late and skint...you'll see why soon enough but this moto is giving me some moivation to get back in the garage and clothe mine properly...and get a TD done on it asap.
