That is one very nice rgv i had an early one, blue and white mental machine, wish i still had it I loved that bike. Is the VFR much quicker? Still havent ridden mine.

Silencer clamps are available from fowlers of Bristol, when i checked about a month ago.

Head gaskets will have to be made of the proper materials, although like you say you can make some gaskets like for sump plug's, thermostats etc. Their are lots of companies on the net that will be able to make a propper gasket from the propper materials they will probably just need you to send them the old one so that they can use it as a template.

Ah they must have some old stock in then? Honda discontinued it aages ago.

The RGV's quicker than the VFR, more BHP and lighter ^_^ (59hp/164kg) vs (62bhp/128kg) (dry weights)

Ahh nuts i knew i should have got another rgv but then again i always wanted a vfr jap import.

fast isn't always better, i'd much rather ride a 4 stroke wide power band vfr around than an rgv. (unless i was on a track of course)

The big thing that ismpressed me with the vfr (only a short ride) over the rgv was the engine braking, people talk about no engine braking on 2 strokes all the time but i didnt really realise it until i got on the vfr!

OT as well but I have never had a 250 road based bike faster than me on a TD. They might have better stats but it takes a better rider and more concentration to go faster on one..

At a major point in the stripdown now everything on the engine that needs to be removed and disconected has been and im now ready to drop the engine out.

Cant wait, as soon as this is done all the major work can take place massive clean down, polish the frame, i may as well get the chain and sprockets replaced and i may if my budget lets me, get the engine re-painted

Ahh been a busy boy today after spending the morning wrestling the engine out of the bike, then the afternoon cleaning stuff. I dont think this bike has ever been cleaned properly its absolutley caked in crud. All went incident free apart from 1 sheared off engine mounting that was as stuck as a bitch, although this is a small price to pay. I have already forgot what engine mounting bolt and spacer goes where though

More pics to follow as the clean up gets under way. I will also be polishing the frame and replacing all the hoses for nice new ones, and also get some nice new nuts and bolts for the rebuild.

I have also been building a small parts pile as i have now purchased a spare set of callipers a new rear shock and braided brake hoses new front mudgaurd fork oil and dust seals new collector pipe and front pipes, and some other random stuff. Im still looking for a good silencer a spare fuel tank good fairing parts and anything else that comes along.
