just for shits and giggles un hook the power wires to the coils and move them to the opposite coil and try to start if dont work put back...my next guess would be if the plugs are not wet and still wont start your float height is wrong your not getting enough fuel

Well when I pulled the carbs off today to double check me idle screws were 2.5 turns out from seated, I noticed there was fuel on a lip of the inlet rubber that the carbs go in, I was wondering if its getting too much fuel ?

I set the float heights to 15mm but man I had to really bend the tang and they seam really high, they certainly wont go any higher.

Do you think I should lower the float height and would that get me more fuel ? or could I be getting to much ?

I have done as instructed and it still dont work lol am into about £1,500 of the bike including the cost of the bike and it still dont work, cash flow and patients have about been exhausted.

Really appreciate your advice though mate, big time 8-)

here is how you know if you need fuel put some in a pump spray bottle take the air box off the bike spray some in the carbs then try to start if it runs then lightly mist at each carb to keep running no choke...

also i would not care what that says and leave float height stock and jet from there

I've just got the bike outside again and I sprayed some carb cleaner directly into the carbs and tried to start it, and while it didn't start it did sort of backfire once but it wasnt a loud bang.

I think I am gonna take the carbs off, yet again :( then set the float heights back to standard like you say and see if that helps any.

Can you give me some direction as to what I need to do with the main idle screw, I have turned it back and forth so many times I just dont know where I am with it and I am worried its set way too high or way too low.

Thanks again ;)

Did you have luck with the bike? Is it fixed?

In general what are the dangers of getting rid of airbox and using high flow custom fitlters? Much harder to sync carbs?

And how much of HP increse can I expect?

I'm planning some restoration/mod on my GSF400 for this winter.

Hi mate :)

Well my bike has had many issues, stage 3 jet kit, new emulsion tubes and my sexy as custom air filters and eventually with lots of effort the bike now starts fires into life immediately and revs right round to 10,000k rpm with no problems, I am SERIOUSLY looking forward to getting this bike out on the road, even before these mods the GK73A was faster than my other RVF 400 (but am working on that one) its a really nice bit of kit :worthy:

With the combination of the stage 3 jet kit and these filters I do believe it will work fine now, when I put the filters on without the stage 3 kit it wouldnt rev past like 7k and now it will :D

Heres the last vid I took of it recently and it sounded very nice indeed, am just waiting to do fork seals then get it off for MOT, can't wait.

If thats what it sounds like @ 10krpm I can't wait to hear it at 16krpm  :worthy:

Here I am rambling on about it ok your questions ... Yes had luck bike seams fixed engine wise, dangers ? well too much air if you do this mod, you'd need a jet kit if you wanted something to be rideable, I recommend Factory Pro stage 3, it's no harder to sync carbs, how much bhp ? god knows, but any more is a bonus, expect the bike to breathe a lot better, you'd need bigger jets from the jet kit for the extra air.

Good luck with the restoration, fire up some pics and keep us posted how it goes :)
