You have some serious electrical issues. I would either swap in a known good second hand loom or grab a wiring diagram and strip the existing loom of all its covering and start chasing wires to see what is going on. Option 1 cost money, option 2 cost time.

I'm inclined to go with getting another loom. No chance of me getting it wrong then. I hopeless with electrics. If it's not as simple as power in and power out, I'm buggered.

with the wiring diagram availabe in the serve book, simply removing all the tape should reveal the hackery.
got nothing to loose if your planning on getting a new loom anyway.
sounds like it could have been on the track at some point and had some wiring mods

Always a possibility. The problem is that it's my only transport. Will need to take a week off to get it sorted.
