Solder doesn't work, it's too hot for the plastic block and besides there is not enough space to get to where I want to get and I have a pretty fine solder tip.

I gave the spade a bit of a squeeze and I think it was being held in by the plug but then after running for a bit just fell out.

I will have to just re-do the connector + wires I guess. Will need to see some guides. Currently the wires are taped up not in a proper loom so may need to re-do more than I bargained for.

The yellow wires can be connected in any way you fancy; the others are easy to work out. Corrosion causes resistance, which causes heat. A good connection that is protected from the environment (using silicone grease, for example) should not get hot enough to melt solder. If the terminals have got hot enough to damage/weaken the metal, there is another issue besides a broken connector that needs sorting or it will do the same to the new connector.

I didn't say solder was being melted :) I said I could not apply it in the required area.

I am waiting for a new connector + wires, going to re-do it all at the weekend hopefully.

you can replace the whole set of connections as advised or trace out the faulty wire or wires and cut and crimp in some single male and female spade or bullet crimps. best to solder new wires to original wires and use shrink sleaving or tape for protection. also tape over crimps. Halfords, screwfix etc sell male female crimps. best to us a crimp tool not pliers, you can buy a basic tool very cheap. or borrow one.

Thanks all, issue is sorted now with a new spade that is lodged in tightly via wrapping. I also have a new connector in case it does come loose but seems to be holding up fine.
