Youll be cheaper buying a new engine.. easily run a couple of hundred quid to do the job.

Clean the valve stems off a bit for now and see how runs, give it a good ride for a couple of months at least and make sure nothing else breaks or that you dont like the bike / want something better before ploughing any more money onto it..

Okay, ill keep my eyes peeled, thats going to mean a collector box as well, i know it will fall apart when i disturb it, ive wanted a VFR400 since i was 16 when i started road riding (im now 25), however how i know about them i would preffer an NC30 since you can get parts for them more readily!

I have both, NC30 is a much better base. Better frame / brakes / forks / suspension / wheels. Worth spending money on. The NC24 is still a fun bike but you can get caught into a spending trap trying to keep it on the road, if your planning on keeping one an nc30 is worth investing in unless you have a specific attraction to the nc24 as they dont hold value well and never really as good as the 30

Just fired her up this morning and not a single bit of smoke, she's been sat since last week as well, only thing changed since smoke is the carbs, I did the floats as they where we'll out and emulsion tubes mixed up

What do we think? Should be smoking all the time if the seals are gone?

Depends on how much oil was in the top end and what not.

Dont obsess over it just now, are you actually riding the bike or just firing it up?

Problems will come to light over time.. I would say that it was porbbaly just condensation in the pipe / oil and it will burn off after a good run but judging by the state of those valves the seals are proabbly gone.

im riding occasionally, i went out last time i fired her up and there was no smoke, i dont get chance to get out really except weekend
