ummm...i was told.by a few in the know.the rubber flaps stop heat soak from rising into the airbox..and dont route air into the airbox itself..????(que loads of replies saying thats bullshit!!).though i would think the larger flap would stop hot air from around the motor.so the smaller flap would not direct air into the airbox.but keep the air from being turbulent....yes??

Ok does anyone at all have HRC carbs fitted to a RVF that can tell me what jet sizes and needle settings they run?

I pissed about all weekend at cadwell starting with the smallest jets supplied (148F and 152R) and couldn't get it to fuel right, i thought it was too lean but from speaking to someone else it was likely too rich and i should be running 130 ish jets.
