Many others on here would have suggested similar; just they are out on their bikes today.

Jets in the carbs may self clean over a period if run occasionally.
If not; try just a single strand of wire from a wire brush down the 3 jets in the base of each carb.One is very tiny and deeply recessed.
I no longer suggest the jet block to be stripped routinely from the body due to fragility of the parts (o ring/seals and jet block screw) thru age.Only as a last resort.
Often a palm sealing the offending carb throat and the bike revved is sufficient to pull the obstruction/softened varnish clear.
I think keeping the float bowls full at all times prevents a lot of fuelling problems.



EDIT; Whilst Facebook may be good for getting an illicit shag it is perhaps not so useful when faced with a shagged bike. !

Yeah i may well take carbs off tomorrow and give em a once over, but wasnt long since i last did it! I managed to take it for a ride but found it seemed a bit gutless (rubbish aftermarket can came with it). Is there any recommendations for after market cans that suit bike well?

I just put on what was cheap at the time and looked the part; I do not think it will be the can,just needs a proper tune.
Mind I could not live with that purple on an all white bike.

Did you ever get your flasher bulbs sorted ?

Yeah you are probably right, i'll give carbs a going over tomorrow... No i never did in the end, just dont have them on my bike at the minute, bit of a hazard i know! might have to get some dinky ones as im not fully faired anymore either :/ but i do have the fairings safe in the shed :)

The aftermarket cheapy's need a different relay or they don't do much flashing. Hapily the one from Halfords will work. I think you need long stem ones for the front, because of the fairing.

Ok yeah i did spot the diddlers in halfords, cheap and nasty but they'd do the trick! the old hand signalling is no fun really!

Well it didnt want to start today :/ even with the help of a car battery! gah bloody thing never was an avid starter

If it's always been like that; compression test and valve clearances will be in order.
Plug fouling hinders starting on these engines considerably.

I'd say a valve check - if you haven't had the bike that long then it might be something that needs doing anyway.
