Re: What did you do with your NC30/35 today?
Again not exactly today but last thursday before heading off to Oulton i did the following.
Sorted out some mesh to cover my HRC open carb set up -

Then i polished and cleaned the bike with yet more carb cleaner, checked the tyre pressures on the KR364's and adjusted them to 28psi cold front and rear, then nut and bolted the entire bike.
Checked the oil level as when i removed the flywheel and stator the weekend before i noticed that the level had been a bit low. Oil level was all good as i had only run it up to temp once since removing the flywheel to check all was ok.
Re did my lockwiring on the filler cap loaded the van ready for a 5am start to Oulton for the wekkend with Bemsee.
In other news I have figured out why my oil was low when i checked it, Its mainly because I'm a dick!!
Ive got a new stand for the rear, and this tips the back of the bike up higher than my old stand, so when it is on the stand it therefore slops the oil forward away from the dipstick and so makes it look like the oil is low. Think i will be doing my oil checking with the bike flat on the ground with me sat on it from now!!!!

Re: What did you do with your NC30/35 today?
Last night i replaced the plugs on my 35.
last time i rode it, it started to develop a sub 3k missfire when pulling away from junctions and stuff. indicative of a failing plug
so a new set (cant remember last time i bought a new set) and fitted them.
3 looked fine, one did look rather worn and scabby.
So today i have "NC30 rash" you know what i mean - on your left hand the skin on your knuckle area is all scuffed up / sore after grating it against the top rad getting the plugs out lol

coming soon to a Ducati forum near you . . . . .xivlia wrote:i sold it! :D
With the greatest respect here fella, can i suggest you leave the tools under the sink, and keep any engine work done often and by trained Ducati technicians.
The early 749 may be a stretta engine (by design) but was not exactly known for it's quality shall we say, and coupled with abuse / neglect / ham fisted spanner work it will transform you into a debt ridden pauper with the throw of a rod, snapped belt, twisted crank, failed gearbox, snapped chain.

Re: What did you do with your NC30/35 today?
I had a '97 748 biposto (with termi's obviously ;P) for 18 months and did ~16k miles on it in all weather. I had a few electrical issues but other than that it was a lovely bike.
Only bike i still regret having to sell to this day and i'd gladly have another (although i think i'd keep the ER6f for commuting and just do sunny days on it now).
I will say the servicing is expensive though if you do alot of miles on it. Definately recommend taking it to a ducati specialist, desmodronic valves and cam belt tension are not for the mechanically inept.

well, i dont know what style of engine is in an 04 749. but i wont be tinkering with this bike. everything will be done by my local garage, which are all qualified to work on ducati bikes.

good man, leave it well alone and just enjoy riding it.
regarding cans from the PM you asked me, again i suggest you leave alone ideally, termi's are the ones to have without question. but you will require an ECU exchange to suit.
i am assuming you have the all important red key with the bike yes ?

Re: What did you do with your NC30/35 today?
In short the red key is the master key, you need the red key to add / remove black keys and make ECU changes / dealer upgrades / work / programming.
Without the red key you cannot do any of the above.
See if you can get it from the previous owner.
on the upside if you are changing the pipes, when you buy new termi's you also get the correct ECU as part of the kit. this negates the need for the red key to program them in.
