Where are the grooves.....
IMHO, all over it! Very insignificant ones and normal light wear, apart from the score around the outer edge of the holes which is a little more pronounced. If it were on my bike, I'd not be bothered in the slightest. The rear disc that is the subject of this thread, however, would have been consigned to a skip long ago!

Maybe you should have asked for the exact thickness before you shelled out over 20 quid :-|

i dont know where your coming with the "grooves" as there are No groves on that disc... there are lines... caused from the pads. its probably ceramic deposits thats been left on there from the pads.. bare in mind, discs vary from brand to brand, and not all brands use the same alloys to make the discs. and most pads are also different, so a combination of different discs/pads could cause more pronounced lines to appear on discs, because different alloys react with different heat that is caused by the friction of the pads.

If the disc measures below 5mm ersan you have every right to file a claim as the seller has misold it.

So dont chuck return it for a refund.

You say that all discs will be scored unless new or very nearly new, the pic is to prove that that's not the case.....

Argh yes! I shouldn't post half asleep. I read it as 4.8mm of wear left to wear (remaining) not remaining on the disc.. stupid now I think the original wear area is only 2mm.

For clarity in this thread.

OEM discs

Fronts are 4mm with 3.5 being the service limit.
Rear is 6mm with 5mm being the service limit.
