Interesting project.
What are you doing with the front forks in regards to spring setup, just leaving it as it came or getting them resprung to suit the bike.
Like you mentioned the NC30 is heavier than the ZX, combined with your weight too.
I forget the details but I seem to recall the ZXR / ZX636 front end being softer than a stock ZXR400 (from people who have done / attempted this on a ZXR400)
If your going to be spending money in the hundreds of pounds region I think it will make sense to get the forks set up properly. Perhaps it will need new springs..
No doubt anything newer will feel much better than 20 year old abused NC stuff but will it be performing to its best?
Only other thing is how is the fork height with the NC? I think they are longer than ZXR forks right, so does this change the angle of the bike? Perhaps rear needs to be adjusted to compensate?
You can fit a 160 on a 4.5" if you want to.. depending on tyre mfg it isnt always certified.. some believe the shape is distorted a little. It's a very personal experience.
Shame the RVF 17" is commanding so much money as its a bolt on 4.5" wheel that wont give you any hassle.
Many of the old Suzuki's like the bandits, GS xxx used to run 160/60/17 on a 4.5" rim if I recall.
Changing the rear to a 17" though and you ideally will need to fix the bikes height by fitting an RVF shock linkage.
