I found this on eBay and need some opinions....I also want to know why there's no fuel tap on the side of the tank...

they don't have taps on the side of the tank...

Seriously?

If NC30s dont have taps on the tank, what have I been looking at??

Edit: I just realised that NC21s and NC24s have them but NC30s dont...

Difficult to say without seeing it.

For someone with bags of NC30 bits already like an enthusiast with a few bikes then at that price it might not be a bad buy.

It needs a new fairing set, even a cheap chinese copy is going to cost a couple of hundred quid.

New chains and sprockets if it needs them will be another 100, the tyres are going to be at least 4 years old so you should really bin them and replace them before they fail and you bin the bike.

Realistically including a service, MOT and chain / sprockets and tyres / panels and sorting any other junk out I reckon youll spend about 350 - 500 quid getting it half sorted. Bikes that have sat that long often fork seals will go too and other stuff.

Dosn't seem too bad but you get what you pay for and costs will soon add up, have a look at the thread in the general about tallying up the costs of the bikes...

The fairing is the last bit I'm going to sort.
I've budgeted £200 per month to do it. The idea is that it takes at least a year to complete...

The first job is complete strip, remove corrosion, wrap in bubble wrap and store in boxes.
Then complete replacement of ALL bearings and seals.
Also going to replace all rubber hoses.

I'd check the bearings and seals before just replacing them for the hell of it. None of them are especially cheap, and if you end up doing the whole lot it'll probably cost a similar amount to the current bid on the bike! If the bike's done the square root of nothing since some time in 2008, then as Neo says, it's going to want a full service as the carbs will probably be pretty gummed up, for the sake of the first hundred quid it's probably a good idea to bin the existing chain and sprockets as the seals will probably be past their best due to lack of use, and personally I'd be rather suspicious of the tyres.

If I was doing this as a project, the first thing I'd do before ripping the bike completely to pieces is to get the engine running properly to make sure there aren't any issues there. It would be rather irritating to say the least to spend a year and hundreds of quid on getting the bike together, only to find you've been handed a pile of junk with a dodgy engine or gearbox. I don't think you'd fail an MOT for no lower fairing, so sort the indicators, give the engine a service, and see what happens. If it fails, it fails, however you can ride it to the MOT place and back, which might help determine if any of the bearings and seals are in need of replacing.... It might also pick up any other issues you haven't spotted.
