Nothing worse than watchin it happen its like slow motion,
I have a problem with those bloody self retracting stands (italian) i managed to catch an RSV id just riden from tippong with the stand went back in on its self.

I currently have two blocks of wood under my stand in the garage, so i have more room and so its more level, one labeled exhaust header block, and side stand block, so i dont throw them out,
Side stand block is 50x100x100mm and the exhaust header one is for when on the abba and i have a jack to lift the front end up it fits through the fairing opening is 25x100x100mm

Thanks Cammo and others, I think its gonna be a cut-and-shut job then. I'll cut off the foot and insert a steel rod i'd reckon. No major dramas since the side stand is a bit tatty anyway and could do with a refresh.
Currently it sits just shy of the Tyga exhaust, I might have to fit a stop screw or a blob of weld at the hinge to stop it running full travel and give some clearance to the exhaust.
My Ducati 748R was a late model of the 916 family, they finally did away with the suicide stand but the stand switch had been shorted (by others) and I'd freely debate the pros and cons of both options! I am quite happy with the simple safetys that Honda and others use for their side stand interlock with ignition...
Thanks again,
Ben.

I think that's a sensible solution, better than having the bike leaning badly.
