Re: Urgent Help Needed
If you can, then Dyno it for sure.
Unscrew the speedo drive cable from the clocks to make sure that indicated speed is not triggering something.
You should get approx 10mph per 1000revsin top gear
or 80kmh at 5.5 revs 160 ish at 11k and up to maybe 200 if you have standard gearing, no wind and a long long road.

Re: Urgent Help Needed
As Mark said, if you can find a dyno then stick it on there.
Mark's suggestion is a good one, disconnect the speedo drive and see if it still bogs down.
My head is hurting from converting all these km's in to miles. I don't know why we use miles and mph, we do everything else in metric.

Re: Urgent Help Needed
I now have digital clocks which has a magnetic speedo, I have therefore disconnected and removed the speedo cable altogether. I'm in the process of finding an affordable dyno but could removing the speedo cable have affected anything?

Re: Urgent Help Needed
Removing the speedo does affect things - it sends a signal to the CDI. If that signal is not received then it will not rev over 5.5k revs.
So - you need the restrictor mod, an M-Max box or similar to fool the CDI into thinking the OEM speedo is plugged in.
So - your revs - -you sure it is reading right? How is that setup?

Re: Urgent Help Needed
Sorry should have mentioned again that I have put the resistor in and that has been sorted but I meant more specifically would just having left out the speedo drive cable affect anything?

Just to add...
So far max revs in neutral 14k
In lower gears 10600 (Could go higher this is just what Ive done)
in 5th and 6th havnt been able to get much over 8k (Bogs down)
Only other thing I know is wrong is loose chain

Re: Urgent Help Needed
How's your airbox setup? Bogging down at high rpm and upper-gears is usually due to air-flow causing problems by broken airbox setup.RegionX wrote:Just to add...

Should be able to hit the rev-limiter in all gears, and at least the red-line in 6th.

Re: Urgent Help Needed
I think you may have hit the nail...etc
The small filter is missing and I have no idea of the condition of the main one, everything is connected properly though. I think it might be worth changing out the filter before a dyno, maybe she is just gasping for air? Any suggestions for a new filter, baring in mind I'm not in the UK? Or will a wash suffice?
