I'm thinking of doing one at oulton on the 21st. It would be my first trackday and i would be on the nc21 would the track conditions really be that bad :/ is it advisable for a first time lol
Just ride over the bridge into the parking area, and wander into the pits and chat to people :)
No fee to get in or anything. I might pop over to say hello at any 400 owners, won't be riding - too cold and wet
Parts of Oulton can get slippy in the wet (Druids) - it's a better place than the road in the wet and always good for developing your riding skills, but for full hooning pleasure a dry day might be better for your first trackday experience. Not that we can guarantee that in this country! Though at least you could learn the track ready for a drier day next time.

there was loads - well i say loads.
Ali was there on his blue and silver RVF, i saw a NC23 in yellow i think, a 3TJ in standard colours and i am sure i spotted a white NC30 in one of the first garages too
Christ it was cold though, driving rain and showers made for a few stopages and session red flags. nice day and good to catch up with people again.
Good brew too Ali, cheers pal

Yep good day out despite the heavens opening just before the start of the first novice session and the start of my first trackday!!!

Think a crash at Druids and then the same bike blowing it's motor in the next session over hilltop caused the no limits guys a lot of problems and the track from the first chicane after shell oils and down to the next chicane was pretty covered but to be fair they dealt with a hard morning as well as they could.

Noise testing was more worrying that the first session for me, but it went through easy at 89, now either the guy got it wrong or his tester failed him but either way I wasn't hanging around to find out!!

Had a great day out and the bike ran flawless all day but suffered a bit of fuel starvation in the last session and dropped onto 2 before dying after hilltop, 2 mins later the carbs were full again and it ran fine to the last corner were it died again, started 30secs later and called it a day, fuel was on reserve and the tank aint empty!!! Bit of a weird one, tank is low, er dunno!!

I spotted blue flag on his nc23 and said hello, good talking to you mate, and there was a guy on a zxr400 with him, didn't see Ali tho.

Basically had a wicked day and so glad I bought a set of wets rather than warmers!!

Paul, send me your addy through pm and I'll post you your sound tester back thanks very much for it, was down in garage 19/20 on a white nc30 so might have been me you saw??

Were you there with your mrs ? i saw you come in then and she helped you back it into the garage. was going to come say hello but got sprang on by a couple of mates not seen for a while in the garage next door with a 996 and a R6
rest of the day was with Ali and loitering around the pit wall with my business partner and his mrs trying to explain why she cant just go buy a bike and turn up and "have a go"

God Damn was it cold and wet.
Spent morning running in the RVF, did 5 laps in first session in poring rain at 10k RPM, realised gearing was way out.
For second session changed gearing and upped revs to 12k, all good, is flying. A slight clutch gremlin was noted though.
After dinner spent time on ZX7R, now long story but this is a xex PB mag project bike, now in race spec with my flatslide carbs on it, bit of tuning work they said. Fook me its a missile, I thought would be a big old slow bird to give me a second ride when over on the Irish roads, I can hardly hang onto the bugger!! Is wheeling out of hill top and druids like a good un. Did 2 sessions on her and called it a day, track was near dry and was on wets and to be honest was getting arm pump as was not relaxed.
5th session, was to be last on RVF so gave her the beans and the clutch was having none of it, out of hill top and cascades on full throttle she was starting to slip. I dont use quick shifter or clutch to change up box but if tried this was slipping its nuts of, so had to use clutch to change up, which cost time but save rhe clutch. Also has issue with twict grip spinning on throttle tube, thought bike was playing up at first but soon twigged, forgot to fit rethals before test but thats a easy fix.

So RVF needs new clutch, ZX7R needs braver rider! Ones easy to sort, the other??

Good to see you Paul, you are now part of the pit crew!! ;)
Sorry did not get to see anyone else, we had a few other issues during day that took for longer to sort than really should have but all was fine in the end, thats what test days are for after all.

We stayed upright and found isses that need sorting before we go to Cookstown in April.

Looks wet out there!
Was like that the first/only time i went there and thought it was a fast/scary track especially in those conditions.
That visor looks mega dark.
