How come?

I mean, what is your argument? (Just for the sake of a healthy engineering-minded conversation :))

The bikes weights are nearly the same, the Hayabusa being 18kgs heavier.

I'm just curious as why it couldn't work.

Mainly that the forks would be too long..

Also, the Haybusa has got to be more than 18kgs heavier than an NC..

Not if you believe the spec sheets. How long are the stanchions compared to the NC30 ones?

I reckon an NC is no more than 190kg fully fuelled

A busa is not as light as that dry...got to be 215 or 220kgs when fuelled.

length wise..just look at the bikes..the busa is massive.

you can fit cbr6 forks to the nc yokes but they are over an inch too tall - busa forks have to be longer than that!

Lenght of that stanchions I must have forgotten :)

However lenght of the bike is barely an argument with these sportsbikes/sportstourers as the steering stem is parallel to the stanchions, and the rake will therefore only be determined by the frame. (Best way I could describe it in english)

According to the spec sheets I have seen the NC30 is 197 dry and the Hayabusa 215 dry.

This page however posts 192kg

:o
Actually I beg to differ, they work a treat on my SV650, OK so it's not a 400 but less power than a 400 race bike and after a serious diet it's probably around the same weight as an NC. :D It could be argued it's a touch over braked now though!

I wouldn't go for the hayabusa forks if I was to do it again, go GSXR or TL at a pinch, the hayabusa ones have odd bottoms that means you can only fit a hayabusa mudguard, are IIRC around 760mm long[1], aren't as adjustable as the GSXR ones and aftermarket springs aren't as available so harder to match springs to the lower bike weight.

Druid

[1] This may be wrong as the SV forks are 780mm and I recall them being around 20mm shorter, both these figures may be remembered wrong!

What exactly are the avantages of USD forks.

Less unsprung weight? Why.
Less overall weight.? Possible
More rigid ? Larger diameter uppers would suggest this.

This is great thread on forks for the VFR400. I have a question. Mines is a NC24 ? and can I use whatever forks from the VFR400 model.

I would like to keep as close as possible to original in case I do decide to race it down the track.

Getting back to fork conversions...

I did convert my CBR250RR with NSR250 triple clamps, forks and brakes. They are heavy than standard, but with pre load adjustment, bigger diameter and 4 spot calipers it has made a world of difference to the bike.

I also had another cbr that someone had put USD RGV 250 forks on and that was a waste of time in my books. It's much heavier than the standard with no much to gain in handling or brakes for that matter.
