Re: Help im stuck :(
cheers evil! the damn compression tester i borrowe doesnt fit
dont know anyone with a bendy one and had no money to buy one...good news is its pay day in the morning
25 quid in halfords for a bendy one think i best shop around first though they tend to rob people blind :D i did do the old finger compression test there akk giving something atleast....
been tinkering around with it tonight it all seems fine to the eye :S
just wanted to check my ignition timing but i cant find a mark to line up tdc on the fly wheel the only 'markings' i can find are where the casing splits haha :) the only details i can find for ignition timing are in a reallly bad copy of a 1wg manual all the 3tj ones seem to lack info
must try and buy one from somewhere!

Re: Help im stuck :(
I though it was on the generator .... have a look at the cover and theres a large silver slotted screw, undo that and the timing marks appear through there. I haven't ever used them though so I could be wrong

Re: Help im stuck :(
Hello mate seems like you having a nightmare. The only marks under the cover are for tdc when checking the valves. All you have is a crank sensor that talks to the cdi and that takes care of the timing. I still find it strange that it was perfect one day and nothing the next? I mean unless you have a blow up lack of compression creeps up on you rather than just go down overnight?
If it didn't run with neat fuel the cdi could be the culprit but try that Bradex and seeif it runs fast.
The cpression test will give you piece of mind over the state of the engine!
Regards
Mark

that's the mark you use, line up the mark on the fly-wheel to the mark on the engine casing, then check the dot's on the left end of the cam-shafts are in the correct position and bingo, as long as the crank and cam's are lined up correctly by the marks on the fly wheel and cam-shafts then the engine it in since

Re: Help im stuck :(
There's always a sequece for head bolts
I think it's in the service booklet on the front page of the forum, if not it's in the manual (download one).
