Pretty sure the nc30 carbs got them off Geoff, they are the same as the ones I took off the bike. What the difference between 30 & 35 carbs?

Well checked the jets and they do seem to be the same, swapped them of the spare ones then refitted them. Dunno if its wishful thinking but it does seem a tiny bit less smokey but still seems to smoke.

Im at a complete loss now. If anyone fancies looking over them for beer tokens it would be great. Otherwise think I will ride it for a few days see how it does and if its no good take it and hand it over to the dyno guy to see what he thinks to it.

is it sparking consistently on all 4 cylinders?
Mine was running bad under load and found that the plug caps were a bad connection. I replaced the coils and it ran much better.

Probably wishful thinking, a problem very rarely magically fixes itself.

NC30 carbs will have round sliders in them, NC35 carbs will have T shaped sliders.

How did you measure the float height?

I would have thought if it wasnt sparking properly then it would have made less power? Its my first bike so not got alot to compare it to but seems to ride well apart from the smoke.

Yer I reckon its wishful thinking! lol They are definatly nc30 carbs compared them to a few pics online. Ive got a set of calipers that I used to cut an L shaped bit of card to measure the floats. However I know they are not the most accurate calipers and find it quite a tricky job. So im not 100% convinciented they are spot on.

I mean HOW did you measure them? From where did you take the measurements?

If it's not sparking right it will be down on power but from your explanation of the problem it seems to be just the sheer quantity of fuel thats causing the smoke.

How many miles do you get to a tank? Is the airfilter clean?

I did it the way you and porndoguk suggested in a previous post. Might get some digital calipers and try again.

As for miles per tank not ridden it much at all since finishing rebuilding it as dont want to do any damage (burning valves) due to the over fueling. Also need to configure my speedo as it had me doing over 223mph down my road when I reckon I was doing 15-20 so in turn the trip counter is miles out!

Burning valves will be a lean mixture, too much fuel is likely to wear the bores out by washing the oil away.

Yep thats the correct way to do it, as long as they are within 1mm they should be ok.

Are the carbs excessivly worn?

Is the smoking all throughout the rev-range or at a specific RPM?

what colour is the smoke ??? , if its got a blue colour its burning oil , white is normal on start up but should clear unless head gasket problem , black smoke is down to major over fueling .

if its burning oil or over fueling it could be fouling the plugs hence the power loss .

Its kinnda grey lol. Im not to bothered about the smoke at the moment as know its overfueling. If the smoke doesnt clear once the fueling is sorter then I will worry. Ive replaced every gasket in the engine so it 'should' be good.

Its keeping me out of trouble what ever the issue is :)
