Sorry if I wasn't clear, those readings were taken after the wires were fixed.

Are the alternator voltage readings with the alternator disconnected from the loom? What was the engine rpm when the readings were taken? Battery needs to be loaded to get a meaningful reading, try turning on the headlights, no engine, and measuring the battery voltage. If the rect/reg terminal block does not exist how do you know which wire goes where?

Yellow wires go at the bottom and can go in any order.
The only other two wires are + and -.. if you have them the wrong way around you'll blow the main fuse.

The only thing that I disconnected were the yellow wires from the reg/rec, I wasn't aware about disconnecting anything else? They were tested at 5000rpm. I will charge the battery tonight and test again tomorrow night. I knew where the wires go as I kept note when I removed them, the + and - wires are in the correct place behind the yellow ones.

have you checked the connector block just under the right hand infill?
the three yellow wires run into a block here from the alternator and then onto the reg/rec. my problem was this block was corroded and knackered. when i trimmed the wires and resoldered with new connector block, all was good :)

Quick question...what or where is the infill?

the infills are the two long bits of black plasticy/card type material that run down the sides of the inside of your fairings.. in the gap between your fairing and the frame. on the left hand side your choke and idle adjuster knob should be poking through it.. they are the infills.

Right then...i've just been out and checked the yellow wires that come from the alternator and go to the reg/rec and one of the three metal pins (not sure of the proper name!) in the connector block was all black and corroded. I'm guessing this is the on that was burnt going into the reg/rec.
Can anyone tell me where I can get a replacement connector block? Do I simply just cut the old one off and reconnect?
One other question I have...as i've said in an earlier post I have used the bike on a few occasions since things started going wrong (please note the battery was a brand new Varta one from Rick on here). Could using it with the damaged wiring be enough to cause me to kill the battery? I have since charged it for about 24 hours but when i've just connected it the neutral light was barely visible and it wouldn't even attempt to start.
