Re: only getting 12.10 volts when running
Just ordered one off GF. hopefully this will sort me out.
Have just tried to make my own locking tool. Failed. Metal i had was too soft and it was just moving round when i tried to turn the central nut. Any tips?

You only need to change the windings, not the flywheel!jetblack wrote:Just ordered one off GF. hopefully this will sort me out.

Ah, comprende.jetblack wrote:Yeah. But I need to get to the windings....which are behind the flywheel.Non?
The best bet is to use an impact driver. Shocks it right off even if you can't figure out a holder mechanism.

Hallsie, looks like you were right...
Got the flywheel off and found this waiting for me inside.

Replacement on its way.

Re: only getting 12.10 volts when running
Just a comment on an earlier post in this thread, the statement "So you just stick one probe in 1 of the 3 slots in the alternator plug and the other probe in any of the other slots on the connector to get the voltage?" is correct, the reply "Set the multi meter to volts then but the black lead on the battery earth and the red lead to each of the 3 yellow wires." contradictes an earlier post and is incorrect. The alternator output is only between the three yellow wires & should be measured without the rectifier/regulator disconnected to get a true indication of the output AC voltage when using a multimeter set to AC volts. Voltage measurements between the yellow wires & battery earth or between the three yellow wires with the rectifier/reguator connected will give a voltage reading that will vary depending on the type of multimeter but will never exceed the battery charge voltage by more than a couple of volts.

Re: only getting 12.10 volts when running
My previous post had an error, the rectifier/regulator must be DISCONNECTED when measuring the alternator ouput voltage.
