I hope he's right, I thought I'd checked them correctly before installation as per Haymes but maybe not!
also if this is the case, youll need to drain your oil and put new stuff in again,

youll be ok i guess reuse the new/old filter though

Will do, jeez this is becoming expensive

Any tips on float height measurement or is it simply a case of reading and re-reading and eventually understanding Haynes!

That guide is confusing, aka I'm a bit thick!

So float height is distance from gasket face and float when it just begins to actuate the valve?

Also best carb cleaner? Wynns seems not that effective

i just use cheap £1 tins from the local market it seems to do the job,

the float height is with carbs on there respective side,
measure from the bigger float of the two,
gasket face to the bottom of the float,
push the float with your finger and youll find that there is a spring loaded portion of the pushing towards the end of it, you need to push the float so it is just resting on the spring ie the spring needs to be full "uncompressed" ie no pressure on it,

I sympathise re measuring the float height as i also find it unbelievably fiddly and hard for such a 'simple' thing to do for everyone else !!

I am going to invest in a vernier caliper for my next try at it as recommended by a few on here who know what they are doing.
