Who's got the lightest one?

Just had a read somewhere that placing one wheel on at a time is ok and will give a reading that will be accurate enough for our world. best thing to do is place a block of wood under the wheel that is not on the scales to even up the height.

I stand to be told that this will not give a good reading, as im only going on what i have read on the ever so truthful internet!!

Well, when the MOT test centre I went to calculated the braking efficiency when the requirement first came in, they used a set of bathroom scales to measure each wheel and myself... lol These days it's all computerised and a little less unsophisticated!

I think a bathroom scale will work fine, although they tend to vary wildly from one scale to another. Either that or I'm in denial.

You think I can get my bike on that scale sometime? I'd love to see how much my NC35 weighs when its done.

Could you not take a bike to a local weigh bridge? We have to take out work vans once a year

You could get a set of big boy scales and stand the bike on a plank.
Amazon have got 200lb sets for 19 quid.

Asda, £4 scales, bargain!

Front - 80kg
Rear - 75kg

So pretty much bang on 52/48 weight distribution, that's with half a tank of fuel, need to invest in some dymags, pretty sure it's the only thing holding me back!!!!

Wouldn't scales under each wheel give a false reading though? as both would be measuring some of the same weight wouldn't they giving a higher combined weight???? Although that total weight you've got does'nt sound far out

The reading should be spot on. They are sharing some of the weight, hence why the percentages are different front to rear.

Shouldn't matter too much if you do one at a time or both together. When I did mine, I put the front on the first scale and it read nearly the same amount as when both wheels were on both scales.

Shouldn't be a problem. Same place where I had the bike dyno'd so you could have it all done at the same time.
