Re: Wahey, got the bike :)
you can pick a seat, igniton, tank cap set NEW from china - ebay for £35ishStewie wrote:Not a happy bunny today, after waiting for nearly a month for the keys to turn up from the seller thay arrived today, unfortunately they don't fit the bike neither the ignition or the tank, so I will need to sort out a new ignition and fuel tank cap, so whats the easiest way to get the fuel tank cap off ? drill out the tumblers or bang a screwdriver in and use that to open the fecking tank, Ive had a search but just done the busiest 12 month night shift in years last night and had maybe 4 hrs of disturbed sleep and I'm absolutlely knackered and pissed off, so any help will come in very handy.
Cheers

Re: Wahey, got the bike :)
I had separate keys for the ignition and fuel cap. A couple of weeks ago the key for the fuel cap fell off, somewhere between leek and Nottingham. I tried a big screwdriver with no luck. I then drilled the lock, making sure I didn't go all the way through the cap, so no bits fell in the tank. Before I removed the cap I used an airline to blow away any metal bits left over from drilling. I can now remove the cap with an old key/screwdriver and it seals OK when in place. I'm looking out for a complete lock set now. (FZR400)

If I remember rightly the Key number is stamped on the barrel.
You can use this key number to order a pre-cut key that will fit your bike, I think there about 15 quid a key (just get the one then get that copied elsewhere.)
Send the invoice to the original seller as they have supplied you with duff keys.
Sure beats getting a complete new lockset.

Re: Wahey, got the bike :)
Speak to honda about it.
The actual key number stamped on the oriingal key is only 3 digits
ie C88 or D91 etc.
Perhaps you can get a key with the barrel number! if not a good locksmith should be able to cut a key that fits it
