Wow this thread has kind of skewed.
Just to add my 2¢'s worth.
Wear what you like on your bike.
I always wear my gear no matter what, mainly for the simple fact I don't trust other road users.
A couple of years ago in my lime green 106 I was travelling down a dual carriageway at 40mph when a car pulled out from a side junction literally as I was passing it, safe to say I had no time to brake and woke up in the back of an ambulance with a totalled car, broken ribs, bruises concussion and the worst headache of my life for 5 days.
Much later I was told that the driver of the other car had said she just didn't see my car. Which they thought was odd as it was a clear day, excellent visibilty in both directions.
Moral of the story is if someone can claim not to see a big green car in the middle of the day what chance do they have of seeing my little bike
And given the damage I did to the car and myself at 40mph, I'd rather be as safe as possible than sorry! and knowing my luck if there was only me and 1 other car on the road it'd be a moron who's going to rear end or side me!
As for gear, I have a Heine Gerrick Hard Edge 2, 2 piece suit in black for track use, and for everyday use I wear my Draggin Cargo Pants with some Knee/Shin Protectors underneath, Harley Davidson Boots, Heine Gerrick Cordura Jacket and my Knox Spine Protector.
All of which is comfy and the armour is easy to whip off when i've arrived wherever I was going to.
