I've got a copy of the wiring diagram, but on that the white wire comes from the L/H switchgear, then becomes a white with blue wire and heads to the low beam relay. Obviously that diagram is for the UK version of the schematics, not that Japanese. I assumed on the Japanese that the white wire simply went back in to the loom and then came back out near the clocks, but apparently not.

It just doesn't go anywhere, this is the only thing stopping me from getting it working to Japanese spec, which I want to do before I do the low relay mod. I have a wire that carries power (white) when dipped is engage, I just need to figure out how to get the power from the l/h switchgear connector block to the headlights.

I just find it odd that I send power through the white cable but none of the cables behind the clocks receive any power. Surely the terminal blocks haven't been tampered with as that'd mean cutting the entire loom open, it still has rubber holders on it so I don't think that's been done.

At a loss of what to do now. I could connect a wire to the white wire behind the left hand fairing that goes straight to the headlights rather than through the loom, but I didn't really want to bodge it like that... this white wire must go somewhere :|

I'm sure everybody in the workshop forum is getting sick of me asking questions that seem trivial, but the forum has been a great resource!

Something weird, if I run a continuity check from the white wire from the switchgear to the fuse box, it has a connection to three of the fuses :S

UPDATE: Upon my n00by inspections, if I hold the tester to the frame earth, then the three fuses also have continuity. Perhaps the white wire has been earthed somewhere? Progress? :D

i wouldnt rely on continiuty with fuses or bulbs in, as it will flow through the bulb down to earth and it will confuse you further, all three fuses are all fed from the same live wire so yes youll get continuity between the 3,

remove bulbs and fuses and retest buddy.

Ah ok, thanks. I've learnt more in the last 3 days than I did from about 2 years of electronics at school.

Fuses removed, good news is that there is continuity between the white wire and one side (obviously) of the middle fuse which is the headlight fuse. So there is a current flowing to the switchgear, I enable dipped, current runs from the switchgear, through the white wire, in to the fuse box and then I don't know where.

Baby steps. Bit stuck now though.

nothing to earth now? thats the important bit, as if it is then you got a breakdonw in insulation somewhere,

No, with fuses removed there's no continuity between the white wire and the frame/earth.

Turns out I confused myself.

The connectivity between white wire and fuse it thus; power goes in to one side of the fuse, comes out the other side of the fuse as a black and red. Black and red heads to the switchgear then goes to one side of the switch. Comes back white.

So I'm still stuck at the same step, figuring out where this white wire goes. Don't want to start cutting open the loom all over the bike to figure it out. Doesn't have continuity to anywhere it seems.
