The oil pick up is at the front of the sump, once the bike goes up the oil runs the the back of the engine and as a result the pump can't pick up oil, prolonged wheelie ing and at high rpm means the crank gets starved of oil and you end up spinning a big end bearing and wrecking the crank.

My last bike was a suzuki tl1000r would wheelie off the throttle, but once again very common oil starvation to the crank. If you want to wheelie get a 1200 bandit easily modded for wheelies. Nc30+wheelies=knackered engines and abuse!!

My mate must have been lucky then I suppose. His bike had no issues whatsoever and spent half it's life on the back wheel.

I was looking at the bandits the other day. They are pretty bullet proof by the looks of it. My NC30 spends its life indoors as it's too nice to be riding everyday in all weathers. I kind of want a bike that I can hack about on and nkt worry about getting dirty lol

I never wheelie intentionally, but my NC24 has surprised me twice on pull aways  and she also pops (only a bout 5cm) if you clutch into 2nd without backing off the throttle and drops again going into 3rd ;)

Popping the front up for a brief wheelie every now and then shouldn't cause any problems on any Bike, bearing in mind all the previous comments about covering the rear brake, and bringing it down again gently.

I'll second the Bandit idea, I never had the urge to wheelie my NC, for me it's all about cornering on that ;)
I got a 1200 Bandit, and all I ever want to do is wheelie it.

I'd recommend going to a 'Wheelie School' to learn the correct technique, not cheap, but then neither is slinging your Bike down the road

Google 'Wheelie Schools UK'

I think the best thing is don't wheelie. Why would you want to on a Vfr400 if you do buy a ktm

Same reason you would on any Bike, because it's fun ;)

OK, as has been said a few times, it's not the ideal Bike for it, but if it's all you have . . .
