this weekend i managed to get the engine up on the work bench and get it degreased and cleaned.
the sprocket has a little surface rust but will most likely be replaced.
The engine now looks pretty clean :)
So now i masked it ready for painting

Whilst working on the engine, i was curious about how the clutch cable works. I have the sprocket cover and can see that the outer cover bolts through and attaches to the sprocket cover. I'm not exactly sure where the other end goes eg where does the inner cable bullet end attach to.
I know it's not the same as the nc30, which has some sort of mini arm.
The engine is masked up at the moment and all the wires, cables etc are tucked away. If it's one of these then i just can't see it at the moment.
Would appreciate it if someone could explain how the mechanism actually works.
thanks

the cluch cable screws into the top of the sprocket cover, inside the sprocket cover is an arm, when you pull on the cable this arm moves out, this arm is connected to the pushrod which runs through the engine and operates the clutch

The sprocket cover i have doesn't have an arm on it. Just a screw thread for the end of cable to screw into.
Is the pushrod visible in this picture? is it that big rod at 9 o'clock? (if we think of the sprocket like a clock face)
i
I'm not at home for the next few days so I can't go to the garage and check it out.
cheers

It does have an arm on it, the arm is inside the sprocket cover.
Theres just a hole that the cable screws into on the top of the cover.. the ball on the end of the cable then hooks into the arm.
Yes that is the pushrod.
When you see the sprocket cover you'll see the arm that the cable attaches too, if you pull this up you'll see it move out.. this is what presses the clutch-rod in to operate the clutch.

ok cool. I think i understand how the whole thing works now. I'll have a better look at the sprocket cover when i get back home.
Thanks again
