I did try to run the bike without the flap and snorkle, but it was suffering from turbulance when it was running hard, so put the flap back. i might try it without the lid tomorrow and just the free flow filter see if that leans it off enough, or too much. :grin:

Yeah this rubber flap business is a strange one, as everyone knows removing it causes no end of problems but mine seemed to run fine.
Saying that tho not long before i sold the bike i replaced the shoddy looking foam filter with some dual density foam, after doing this i did notice the occasional lumpy running but it wasnt enough to bother me. The guy that had the bike off me went further and fitted a K&N and had it jetted down a little, this really buggered up things and the bike suffered the classic turbalance problems of having no rubber flap. The owner has since fitted a rubber flap and snorkle and now runs like a dream.

Thinking about it i think the bike now runs 120 ish jets and was running larger jets when i had the bike with the no snorkle/rubber flap setup, it was a while ago now :roll:

If your going for the no airbox at all setup i know CMSJ1 (Mark), runs no airbox, a HRC carb tray and RVF carbs with short stacks, 135 jets, foam filter duct taped on and it runs perfect.

Cheers Drunkn Munky, i will see if Mark has any advice when i get the vfr carbs built and on the bike. i feel that it's going to be a hole bag of trouble at first :lol:
Still it will be worth it in the end i am sure :pray:
