Well tbh its the least worn clutch of the two i have... by grinding i mean when the bike is in neutral it makes a funny grinding sort of noise, when going into first or second its a bit like a crunching / grinding sort of noise... i'll try get an audio recording in the next couple of days..

Also would you happen to know why the bike tries to stall when i try to get the bike to move?
Could it be a carb issue?

Pull your exhaust and sump off, and have a look at the gear box, and the selector forks etc. Look for signs of wear, metal on metal contact or excessive heat (blueing, burning or burring of the metal).

Your symptoms might be related. Like a flogged gearbox bearing (easiest way to tell is to split the cases sorry!), you may be able to detect signs of wear (like a broken or knackered bearing) in the shell if you have a good torch and eyes. You would normally feel this as a vibration through the pegs though.

Your gearbox symptoms could still be explained by the clutch not releasing fully.

Stalling, no idea. But if your clutch is dragging it won't help.

It was my confusion. But if you have a death rattle and issues with your gearbox i'd start there. Gearbox and clutch.

i'll make a start by adjusting the clutch some more, other than that its gonna be a engine out jobbie and check the lot...

Wozza here... I have had minor gearbox problems before, when riding sometimes I've messed up a gear change and the box has gone into a false neutral while making a loud rattling noise like a ball bearing being thrown about. Possibly related?

I doubt getting a false neutrals is related but it is possible.

A false neutral is usually a result of a lazy foot/hand not moving the clutch/gear leve far enough or worn gears. Effectively the gear mechanism doesn't quite move far enough to engage the two gears on the shaft, so the engagement dogs just skip past each other, maybe touching at the ends - which is the noise you hear.

I take it neither of you get vibrations when in gear? (So chances are not a gearbox bearing - cos you should feel one when it has turned turtle).

Yeah it was when I had rushed a gear change so hadn't pulled the lever up all the way.
I have had vibrations in the pegs before but it was due to a seized link in the chain.

Update 1:
No vibrations.
Sound does not change when I pull in the clutch.
Sound does not change when I put it in gear, whether the back wheel is moving or not.

I've been having a good listen and this time I can't be sure exactly where it's coming from, it does seem it could be coming from the head so I'm going to start there. I've recorded a better video but it's still being processed. I'm also straining the oil. Will be back with more updates.

Rules out some of the nastier clutch and gear box problems...
