NC30 Fork Lowers

Well, I finally mirror polished them, but when I offered them up it looked like a Goldwing (lol), then I tried the Scotchbrite method but couldn't get them just right.

Finally I went down the original route that I was going, but with a twist. I stove enamelled the lowers in silver but mirror polisked the top of the sliders. New fork bushes, seals, dust covers and mudguard stay courtesey of Dave silver, and I think that they have turned out ok after all. Coupled with the refurbed and repainted disks, not too bad...

if I hadnt have pissed about polishing, then scotch briting and had just painted them in the first place, they would have been done in a couple of days

They do look smart Polisher. I'd never of thought of leaving just the top polished. I think thats a really original look but very subtle with it. How do the mudguard stays sit on there without a layer of paint to grip on? I know some folks have had problems with them in the past, packing out with tape etc.

Is that because they were worn? All that guard movement kills them, easily replaced.

Only reason that I polished the tops was purely because last time I painted them black as I put the stays back on I scratched them again, doh......

Put forks all back together and wheel back in last night only to find that i had put the left stay on the right hand side and the right on the left. Remind me not to start a job at 11 at night when I'm shattered after a 12 hour work day!

Now that theyre back on in the correct way they stay put nicely - being new they are pretty tight

I like them.. See how they look on the bike, they might come off a bit chopper / cruiser ish but y'never know.

Black / Gold / Silver comes to mind.

Well, just finished putting the NC back together after repainting the fork lowers and the disc centres. I put a titanium front axle bolt and gear change linkage rod on from 'underboat' on fleabay and a titanium rear axle nut and retainer, caliper bolts, pinch bolts, disc rotor bolts amongst others from ProBolt.

Not quite sure about the black Aero screen though.........

Where did you get the enamell bake paint from? is it as simple as spraying the lowers and putting them in the oven?
