Yep yep!

I think you should check your float-heights too, after a spill the shock can actually bend the tangs slightly.. they should all be 12.5mm (I think!) from the base gasket surface.

lol i thought youd like the artwork, took me a while though.

could you enighten me as how to measure the float height? press it in and measure how far out it returns?

also i simply cant find the pilot screw! ive got the idle screw but compared to the picture its totally different!

Turn the carbs so the float is *just* resting on the spring, measure the height to the float bowl sealing surface, adjust to IIRC (please check) 12.5mm by bending the tag inwards or outwards slightly.

See the little pillar just right of the inlet (just left of the float bowl) with a cross cut brass 'screw'?

Float heigh procedure is the same.. except it should be 6.8mm high.

The pilot screws are straight flat heads and there located on the inside of the carbs on the side.

So If you look into the stack from the left you'll see the two pilot screws for the right hand bank of carbs about half way up each of the carbs, poke your screwdriver through the gap and clean / remove / adjust as appropriate.

Start with 2.25 turns and go 1/4 either way depending on how it runs. (in to lean / out to richen)

Neo, that is for nc24/30 carbs, RVF are different. Float height shuld be set at 12.5mm.

On RVF carbs pilot screw is turned in to richen, out to lean. Standard setting is 1 & 5/8 turns out. Float height shuld be set at 12.5mm.


Most of my problems have been electrical when bikes have been dropped.

ok big update, put the carbs, airbox and fuel tank back on today. then ran the bike with the kill switch engaged and then allowed fuel to settle for a few minutes then started the bike again. it started and ran ok but with the choke n it raised to about 4k then slowly died off. after this i felt the exhausts and cylinders 3 and 4 wre cold but 1 and 2 were ok.

after this i cleaned the plugs in 3 and 4 the started the bike again and the bike did the same continueing to sit at about 4k the slowing and dying off! this time after it died i felt the exhausts again and cylinder 2 was cold!!!!!! but 1, 3 and 4 were hot!

its doing my head in and i realy dont want to give it to a garage

im now assuming thats its an electrical problem from the fall but im not sure where

that would explain the spark problem but not the dodgy running and idle speed. i hope i havent buggered the pilot or idle settings.

please help guys its worrying me!

anyne got any ideas?
