i'd like to see if you can fit a fan to the top rad also for my oil cooler nc30.

here's the post from when i did it .

Hi royster81, it sounds as though im trying to acheive the exact same thing as you, your thread was really interesting. How big an improvement do you think it has made over a standard set up.

I already have a set of Ricks top and bottom rads which are excellent, but from this and now your thread there looks as though there are 2 set ups to re consider, one is for a slim sandwich plate and FZ6 filter and fit a NC24 type cooler in the nose cone area (i need to get some pictures to see if this can be done with just getting hold of some original nc24 fittings/brackets etc, or whether its going to need a little fabricating)

The second is to look into the oil/water exchanger and see whats involved in fitting the nc24 fan to the top rad (again i need to find out how this is attached and see if it can be done with original stuff or a little fabricating)

Something else that could help is a elec water pump, i am going to fit a Davies Craig elec water pump to my RGV track bike to help regulate the temp on that, so this could help with what im trying to achieve on the vfr as well. The only thing i need to consider is where this pump would need to plumb into this set up and if it would have an impact on its performance.

Anyone got pictures of the standard fitment of nc24 top oil cooler and top rad fan fitment, and also the standard top fitment of the nc30 uk spec oil cooler?

I know to some this quest may seem a little pointless but i love tinkering and modifying my bikes.

Cheers

i think the oil/water cooler helps the bike keep temps down when it's moving forward but as i have no fan (i'd like to see about mounting one but) once you stop at lights or get caught behind traffic it does take long for the temp needle to rise. 2 things can help slow this but, one a good condition bottom rad which i don't have, mine has taking a fair amount of beating and the other thing is one of ricks bottom rads.

if a fan could be mounted, either to the top or bottom rads i think this would be a great mod to do to any road bike, but at the minute i think it'll really only benefits track or race bikes.

pictures from nc24 riders of there top rads and the fans mounted to them would be good as it would show how they are mounted, what size the fans are and might lead us to see if it's possible to sort something out for the nc30.

The NC24 oil cooler is mounted to the bottom of the clock bracket with 10mm nuts.It shoulnd't be to hard to fabricate something.. the standard pipes will leave it up under the nosecone anyway

Ive got a UK spec Engine (With Oil Cooler) stripped down int the shed, if you want I could post some pics up for you to see certain parts? (Not the oil pump though, as it isn't THAT stripped, LOL). Failing that, the entire engine and oil cooler is for sale in the relavent section, Open to offers...

Got to say it looks very very similar to what Nesopohist has posted, and fixes in the same way he has described.

If I was you, i would see about getting a Oil/Water cooler and a shortened Oil Filter from Rick Oliver to do the job quicker and easier if you cant fine the relavent stuff to sort out the proper Oil Cooler, as you will obviously need to change the Pump for that.

Yes it's the same part.

OIL FILTER/OIL PUMP VFR400R3M 1991 [E] parts list fiche

The oil pump.. 15100ML0720

Thats the same oil pump as in NC24.

The crankcase set is different (MR8 vs ML0) but the lower half is probably identical to the NC24 or can be easily adapted.

The sump on the NC30 is also NC24 part (ML0)
