Re: Lydden Hill trackday weekend 17/18th October....Pic heavy
Ooh, I was there, and you've even got a pic of me :p
I was out on sunday, only the first two sessions, the black vfr with number 13 on it (pic number 147) :)
Was both testing my new race bike (doesn't like to rev below 10k, think it's the open airbox so gonna have a look over the weekend) and getting to know the track for the Bemsee meet there in a couple of weeks :)
Had a good day overall, nice and laid back, my main problem was being in the intermediate I found after the first couple of sessions I wasn't really learning the track much, more just concentrating on passing/watching/avoiding other riders, looking forward to the race though :D
If you've got anymore pics of me, and/or number 28 crashing in the advanced group I'd to have a look, noskilluk 'at' gmail 'dot' com :)

Best advice is to have lots and lots of money, and then a bit more :p
And avoid Snetterton on a vfr with stupidly lean main jets, not fun :p

Sorry NoSkill I was probably one of the people you were passing/watching/laughing/avoiding. In my defence it was my first time on the bike and at that track, i did get quicker.NoSkill wrote: Had a good day overall, nice and laid back, my main problem was being in the intermediate I found after the first couple of sessions I wasn't really learning the track much, more just concentrating on passing/watching/avoiding other riders, looking forward to the race though :D
I was getting a lot of clutch slip is this common on vfrs? any recommended upgrades to get rid of it?

No need to apologise, I got the main objective of getting vaquely used to the track, and it was kinda fun going round 3+ people at the outside of T1 :p :)mgchimp wrote:Sorry NoSkill I was probably one of the people you were passing/watching/laughing/avoiding. As for the clutch slip, can't say I've ever had it, and my main race bike has done ~10k road miles and 7 race meetings now since I bought it and god knows how much the clutch did before that...
Not 100% sure but I'd guess your clutch is on it's way out, or maybe the clutch cable?

clutch slip can also happen if you put fully synth in it, instead of semi synth 10W40

Thanks guys, I have just ordered a EBC srk clutch kit that comes with the springs and a complete stack of steels and kevlar friction plates. The original clutch was well burnt. I will let you know how it goes at brands on the 5th.

fair few Bemsee racers their getting a cheeky test day in before their round this weekend
that number 15 blue and yellow minitwin crashed right next to me at thruxton when I was on the zxr that I ended up crashing later in the lap.
I went up the inside of him on the brakes at the campbell complex and he then got off the brakes and caried too much speed to try and go with me into the corner and just low sided, I thought what a cock for crashing in practise like that then went to bin it at the last chicane of the lap.
