September last year is when I got my first V4, an NC30!
Poppped round to see a good mate who buys and sells bikes and there she was. Sticking out from under a bench was the familiar looking back end of an NC30. I dragged her out and by god was she rough. Got my mate to fire her up and she ran for a few seconds (still the only time I've heard it run!) which was surprising as the bike had been sat for at least 2 years after being confiscated by Berks Police during an episode of Road Wars (yes my little NC is a tv star).
I bought it there and then with a woven fibreglass race fairing, seat unit and clear screen included in he sale for £600. Another £600 spent so far and still no closer to getting out on track but I still love the little thing. Can't wait to hear her growling through the full Tyga race exhaust (thank god for eBay) I've since bought and that I'm currently struggling to fit.

first v4 experience this weekend, my brother got it last year after a tour of afgan, he has gone away to afgan again and i promised i would have it running for when he returns in august, it was a bag of crap when he got it missing seat unit, the fairing must have had only 2 bolts holding it on, in was a bitch to start, the fuel tank leaked (rotten as a pear), many other problems and shit repairs, got it MOT'd saturday and went for a little ride today, very different i must say, have owned various bikes but only have my RGV 250 at the mo, i had a shock with the engine breaking i thought the brakes had stuck on!!!!!!!

i still remember mine like it was yesterday...
was whipping through vauxhall on my little RS125, wringing its neck through the little tunnel bit, when i heard a sound that to this day still gives me a chill-
the sound of V4 fury through an open race pipe.
a mint looking NC30 tore straight past me and just like that i knew i had to have one for myself.
booked my test, sat my theory and a month later i was on a road trip out to the sticks to bring her home.
and the rest, as they say, is history :-)

I remember buying my first off a dealer on an infamously busy motorcycling street in the CBD of Melbourne back in 2002ish. The dealer started the bike (with race pipe) on the side walk out the front with swarms of people having to walk around it in terror/envy/disgust! Needless to say, I opened my wallet and the rest is history......
Also needless to say that I found 400GB pretty quickly due to a dud reg/rect
And hasn't the world of 400 V4s come a looooong way since then - a whole other world of performance, style and fun. Mostly due to committed indiviuals/companies

My ex bought me my first and only V4, off eBay in 2007, after my CB250RS was stolen. I was skint and she was flush after a works bonus.
I needed a bike to go to an 'do' in Manchester, as well as other events round the country. I wasn't fussed what cc it was, what style or manufacturer, but it had to be cheap and mid-sized.
And so it came up... '1986 VFR400 NC21, some spares, good condition, located near Bournemouth' ... and we bid £516 for it.
We lost out by £20 to a bidder in London, but he bottled it, saying it was 'too far' to go for a bike. WTF??
Anyway the owner offered it to us for a round £500 so off we went... only 200 miles to go for it, from Stoke-on-Trent to the South Coast.
We took the kids too, in my ex's car... we had a day at the beach, then she took the kids home while I followed, in 100 miles of rain. And the bike never missed a beat.
I'm very happy with my VFR experience, I'll have another one tomorrow if you're offering...

I remember seeing an NC30 in Road Wars, the guy had just bought it and was hooning around the streets with it... no tax, no MOT, he didn't have a licence... He also had pockets full of Viagra and was nicked for having nunchuks in his waistband, the daft sod.

Been in the bike shop for 2 year!! I hope you managed to get a substantial reduction in price, bet he was desperate to get shot of it!
