Nice project!!!! good to see another USA 400 bike. If you do decide to replace the exhaust hiperform had a good one here in the USA http://www.hiperform.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. I would go with their regular end can though as the megaphone is really loud!!!

I'm just fortunate enough to be able to get this bike here in the US in any condition. Forget about finding or getting any parts and the exchange rates are not exactly in my favor to get things from overseas. I'll just be happy to ride the thing when it's done. Keep in mind I have had the bike for 5 months and it hasn't even turned a wheel yet. I am sure if I keep it for a long time that more mods will follow. For now I'm just trying to restore the bike to standard and get it legally plated for the streets. I've also already spent a boat load of cash on it so I need to just get it done and ride it. The US made hiperform system looks the goods, the last one of their mk1 systems offered up was a bargain. Maybe g-force would have some used systems lying around?

All I meant by the remark was that a heap of effort and time has gone into the bike, it's a pity to see it still using the standard system. The performance increase is worthwhile, I put a standard system back on my bike when I sold one, and it felt anemic.

I've had 14 bikes, but only one at any given time, and always bought the latest and greatest, the newest, did a bunch of expensive mods, sold it and lost my a$$! Bought a new one and did it all over again. This project has opened my eyes to a whole new way of enjoying motorcycles. I have really enjoyed doing the restoration and taking pride in making it into what it is. I'll ride it, take it to the track, and see what happens. I may sell it someday but I won't lose my a$$! Take the money and go buy another project. Start all over again. The last few years I have also owned a metric cruiser, Harley, dirtbikes, and still have a Dual Sport. I always used to be a hardcore sportbiker but as I've gotten older I am enjoying riding anything and everything with two wheels. Ride on!

Where did you get the carbon chain guard? I'd like one myself.
